Our Pastor
Brian Johnson was raised in West Tennessee until he moved to Nashville after graduating college at Union University. He spent years not knowing whether he had been saved after giving a false profession of faith at nine years old. It was not until the early morning hours of April 7, 2003, at age 22, that Brian was awakened to his desperate need of the Savior. He called out to Jesus to save his soul. The Holy Spirit gave him peace, and he knew he had been gifted salvation from the Lord (Ephesians 2:8). He was called by God to preach the gospel just months after that. Brian began pastoring in 2005 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where he continues to serve as pastor.
Brian currently works full time as a prison minister for Men of Valor. He is a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He was formerly a life recovery counselor at the Nashville Rescue Mission. Brian has a heart to serve those in need of the good news of Jesus Christ.
Brian has been married to Jenna since 2007, and together, they have five children. In his free time, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his sons’ soccer and basketball teams, biking and running, sports of all kinds, reading and studying, and doing mission work. He actually met his wife on a mission trip to Jamaica! He looks forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for Bethlehem.
