Welcome to Bethlehem
Welcome to Bethlehem! We are grateful that you have chosen to visit us online, and we would be glad for you to join us in worship.
The word Bethlehem in Hebrew means, “house of bread.” This really sums who and what we want to be about at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. John 6:35 explains, “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” Those who make up the body of believers at Bethlehem have tasted and seen that the Lord is good (Ps. 34:8). Each member has a personal testimony of coming to know Jesus and is seeking to follow Him in ongoing discipleship. We want to be about Jesus who is our bread of life!
As a body of believers, we believe that worship is done in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4:24). It must be done under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and with all our hearts; however, it cannot be devoid of the truth. The truth is found in the Bible. When Jesus was tempted, He stated, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4). At Bethlehem, we believe in the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Scriptures and desire to be a place where God’s people are fed from and live out His Word (1 Cor. 10:17).
We realize the blessings Jesus Christ has provided us are not to be kept to ourselves. We desire to share our faith. As some person stated, “We are beggars telling other beggars where to find bread.” When Adam sinned, God said, “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground” (Gen. 3:19). Some are spending their whole lives living for the temporary bread that will leave you hungry. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness” (Isa. 55:2). We want to be a church with a missionary heart who reaches out and says “Come” (Rev. 22:17). Come to Jesus for salvation. Come grow with us in sanctification. Come worship and wait with us in anticipation of the Lord Jesus Christ’s second coming (Rev. 22:20, 1 Thess. 1:10)!
